How to Handle Negative Comments on YouTube
For whatever reason, the haters love to hate on YouTube. Sooner or later, you’re bound to get a negative comment. These comments can be very hurtful, but it’s important to not let a stranger ruin your day. Here’s how.
First, know it happens to everyone
It is important that you know you’re not alone when it comes to negative comments. Almost every YouTuber experiences a troll attack at some point. So don’t worry — it’s not you, it’s them
Do. Not. Argue.
An online troll lives to to hurt feelings and start a fight. Do not fall for the bait. If a troll leaves a negative comments either delete and block the person, or ignore the comment entirely then move on.
Sometimes it’s constructive feedback — not trolling
Sometimes negative comments can be used to improve your channel. If you are getting feedback like, ‘I can’t hear you’ or “your videos are too dark’ you can use these notes as a starting point to improve your channel.
Focus on the positive
For every one negative comment, know that there are ten wonderful comments from people who appreciate your hard work. Focus on the people who bring light to your channel, and let the trolls stay where they belong — in the shadows.
