How to Kill It At YouTube Conventions

So, you’re going to Beautcon or GenBeauty or VidCon or Playlist Live or any one of those amazing YouTube events. You’ve finally made it and it’s going to be awesome.

But how do you make the most of these trips? Below are tips to help you have fun — and leave a better content creator.

Plan Ahead

It may seem like you have a lot of time and options when it comes to going to YouTube events, but you actually don’t. These events are immensely popular, and tickets sell out quickly. So if you want to go, buy your ticket immediately!

Play it cool, but don’t be afraid to network

YouTubers of all subscriber counts attend these events. If you see a YouTuber you admire, don’t be afraid to approach her! However, it is important to be professional and poised. Don’t run up to your YouTube crush screaming and begging for a selfie. Approach her calmly and you never now, a new friendship might form!

Wear appropriate footwear

Insider tip: There are not many places to sit down at these events. You don’t want to ruin your day by wearing shoes that hurt your feet. Wear cute flats or sneakers so you can make the most out of the day. Or if you must wear heels (girl, I get it) just bring back-up shoes in case things start getting blistery :).

Go to panels!

One of the best parts about these conventions are the panels. Where else can you see five or six of the most influential creators all together exchanging ideas and answering questions? Nowhere else! Definitely go to a panel or two and take notes.

Nourish yourself

We were shocked to discover that healthy and affordable food is not really a priority during these conventions. Do not get stuck paying $10 for peanut M&M’s at concessions. Eat a giant, healthy breakfast before you arrive and come with small, energy boosting snacks like nuts or dried fruit. Don’t forget a bottle of water to hydrate.

We hope these tips are helpful and will help you make the most out of your next YouTube convention!
